Media

Photograde Paper:
High quality 195 gloss presentation paper suitable for any interior graphic or photographic applications.
Photograde Film:
This film material has a glossy photographic paper finish, which gives bright vibrant colours. Its scratch and waterproof and retails at a very competitive price. A good choice if your require large quantities of banners. Material does not have a fire rating.
White Film:
A 145 white opaque polyester film with good stability, strength and flexibility. Ideal for wide roll-up type banner displays when laminated with ‘scuff’ resistant laminate.
Translucent Film:
Coated specifically for use in lightboxes or backlit displays on a 270 gsm opal base.
Stretch Canvas Matt:
True artist grade canvas offering excellent colour reproduction and suitable for stretching on frame.
Egyptian Cotton Fabric:
A cotton banner material with a coating that provides excellent image quality reproduction.
Window Film:
A reverse print film for quick and easy application to glass or perspex. Ideal for shop or window displays.
Opaljet 125:
Is a new generation film for Banner stands and roll-ups. The DuPont Melinex film is the toughest and most diametrically stable base available.
Opaljet 300:
As above but 300 micron, and when used with the correct laminate provides for one pass finishing for Pop-Up displays.
Footprint:
Is a printable floor graphic system with a tough scratch resistant surface. It is easy to apply and remove and has passed the ASTM test D2047 for slip resistance to floors.
Self Adhesive White Vinyl:
Available with either a removable or permanent adhesive and as an interior or exterior product (when printed with UV outdoor inks and laminated with DOL1000).
Polypropylene Banner:
Our entry level material is a light weight polypropylene which looks like paper but doesn’t need to be sealed. It has flat matt finish, which is waterproof. Ideal for those on a tight budget or if the banners are being used once only. This material does not have a fire rating.
Lightweight Banner Vinyl:
A slightly textured polyester fabric with a velvety matt finish, which gives deep rich colours. It is ideal for semi permanent displays e.g. receptions, boardrooms. This material is flame resistant. We can supply test certificates if required. This material can mark and has to be handled with some care.
Cortech Banner:
This bright white film was designed for banner systems. It has a smooth satin finish and an opaque blockout backing which makes it ideal when no show through is required. This material does not have a fire rating.
Reverse Print PVC:
A two part banner where the image is reverse printed on to the back of a clear film which is then sealed with a white backing film. The encapsulated image is scratch, water and solvent resistant. This is our most robust banner material, which we recommend for displays that are going to see a lot of use. E.g. sales demonstrations, events and road shows, travelling exhibitions.

Mounting

Foamalux PVC:
A class 1 fire related hard PVC foam board available in 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10mm thickness. This board is ideal for indoor or exterior applications.
MDF Medite Board:
A high quality MDF board suitable for any indoor application and is stocked in 3, 6 and 12mm thickness.
Foamboard:
A superior quality foam board of great strength and ultra lightweight and available in 5 and 10mm thickness suitable for indoor use only.
Staufen PVC:
A good quality PVC mounting surface that is flexible and can be rolled, available in 240mic or 480mic thickness.
Display Card:
A 2mm thick display card suitable for indoor use.
Dibond:
An aluminium composite with a polyethylene core, giving great strength and very lightweight. Available to order in 2, 3 and 4mm thickness.
Perspex/Acrylic:
We can also mount on a wide range of Perspex and acrylic substrates.

Laminating

Matt Laminate PG7:
A good general purpose 80 micron matt laminate with UV inhibitors for the protection of photographs or inkjet prints.
Gloss Laminate PH30:
High quality pro gloss laminate with UV protection.
Deep Crystal Laminate:
An extra tough 150 micron scuff resistant laminate, ideal for pop-up and banner displays.

Scoring

Score:
Partially cut paper, with a rule or wheel, to facilitate folding.
Creasing:
Mechanically press a rule into paper or board to facilitate folding without cracking. Often applies to cover stock where folding around the page is required.
Cut and Crease:
Used in production of board print jobs – folders, packaging – stamp outs and creases a shape.
Die Cutting:
The cutting or shaping by a sharp steel rule to a desired form or impression on the material.

Finishing

Die Stamping:
A design which is engraved onto a steel block, which is then inked and pressed against the paper, creates the image.
Embossing:
The process of obtaining a raised image on paper or board and achieved by a male/female block where the paper passes between and pressure is applied.
Laminating:
The application of a transparent plastic film, with a high gloss or matt finish, to the surface of a printed sheet to enhance the appearance and protect the surface.
Spot UV Varnishing:
Applying clear transcluscent or coloured varnish to plain or printed matter in designated areas to highlight or improve the presentation quality. Over fonts, text blocks or photographs. Matt, Gloss and Sparkle available.
Varnishing:
The application of a liquid coating on paper after printing for protection and to enhance appearance. Both gloss and matt finish.

Folding

Buckle Folding:
A fold formed when the front edge of a moving sheet of paper is stopped by a plate, allowing it to buckle at a pre-determined point .
C (or Letter) Fold:
Usually to produce 1/3 A4 (DL) size where to folds wrap inwards around themselves.
Cross Fold:
Two folds at right angles to each other.
Gate Fold:
Turns in on itself from both edges to the centre.
Knife Fold:
A fold created by a blunt straight edge plunging down onto and usually the middle of a flat sheet.
Roll Fold:
Paper is wrapped around itself at each fold.
Symmetric Fold:
Equal length sides A5, ˝ A4.
Z Fold:
Two folds produce a z-shape, usually A4 size folded to 1/3.
Double Fold:
Three folds of a page to produce four equal lengths sections.
Fan Fold:
Usually in continuous paper which gives the same effect as a fan – left hand fold followed by right and so on.
Pocket Fold:
An oversize page or sheet folded in order that it can be inserted into a pocket within a folder or wallet.
Plough Fold:
A fold created along the web by a blade similar to a plough.
Asymmetric Fold:
Paper that has unequal length sides.

Binding

Spiral Binding:
Pre-drilled or punched pages bound by a coil of wire or plastic inserted into the holes. Pages lie flat when opened.
Comb Binding:
Plastic performed spine with many fingers which when mechanically opened allows for punched or pre-drilled paper to be inserted. Pages lie flat when opened.
Perfect Binding:
  • Side Stitched/Stabbed – To secure sheets by wire stitching from front to back in margin.
  • Slide – Manual process using a U-shaped plastic comb, flat allowing contents to be inserted to create a spine. Doesn’t lie flat.
  • Saddle Stitching – To stitch with wire through the pack spine in order to produce a booklet or magazine.
