Features & Benefits of Electroluminescence
Electro-Luminescent lamps are devices which convert electrical energy into light or luminescence by applying AC voltage across electrodes. An organic phosphor with coloured overlays is sandwiched between two conductors and as the electric current is applied, it rapidly charges phosphor crystals, which emit visible light.

• Electro-Luminescent is produced in the form of paper thin wires typically between 0.25mm - 0.5mm thick., strips or panels and is able to be applied to almost any design.

The Typical Creative and Production Processes

Consultation and Project Planning:
Consultation with the client to fully evaluate their requirements, in order to provide them with the best solution for their application. We consult with clients in order to ensure clear, ongoing communications throughout the course of the project.

Artwork Creation
Edmonds UK will assist the client in understanding how to maximise the benefits of using EL for their campaign.

We will provide electronic files that demonstrate the required animation. By working electronically during this stage, emailing animations in the form of .gif files can be very quick, efficient and cost-effective. Once the animation is confirmed by the client, we can build a prototype sign to these specifications, if required.

Pricing Considerations
Costs are dependent upon many variables such as:

• Size
• Quantity
• % of Illumination
• Animation Complexity

Example of prices:
*Prices include panels, power inverters and cabling.

• A4 White sheets (100% lit) @ £54 per unit.
• A3 White sheets (100% lit) @ £80 per unit.
• A2 White Sheets (100% lit) @ £121 per unit.
• A1 White Sheets (100% lit) @ £228 per unit.
• 6 sheet ( 1.2m x 1.8m) @ £400 - £600 per unit ( depending on % of illumination)

Prices do not include delivery or VAT. There is also a tooling fee or set up charge for the first poster of the run. EG: For A3 tooling is £180.

Therefore, once we provide the client with an animation and have full details of the project, we are able to provide an accurate cost based on the specific customer requirements, together with the delivery lead times.

Prototyping/Sampling:
Prototyping is optional and some customers prefer to go directing into production. Prototype costs vary, depending upon the specifications of the project. Edmonds will provide you with an estimate for prototyping before any work is done. The prototype will take around 2 weeks to complete. It will serve as a "master" proof for final approval and the entire run will be based on the prototype. It is therefore important to ensure that the electronic proofs of the animation are correct prior to proceeding to the prototyping stage.

Production:
Once the prototype has been approved, Edmondsl will proceed with production once we receive a deposit of 50% of total costs. The lead time for production will depend on many factors and this will be confirmed upon order.

Delivery:
As soon as we finish production, the foil will be delivered. The customer is required to pay the balance of the remaining 50% of the total invoice value in order to release the goods. The customer is also required to pay for the transportation together with the remaining 50% payment.

BILLBOARDS - Carlsberg

BUS STOPS - Carling Live 24

We launched this campaign for Carling Live 24 across London's bus stops in 2006. The brief was to design and produce a simple yet creative illumination process that would lead the pedestrian's eye through the message in stages, making them stop to take notice of the poster.

BUS SIDE ADVERTISING

You can illuminate your brands message on the move. Panels can be applied to busses, bringing light and animation to the streets, producing the most eye-catching and noticeable campaigns. The challenge for all advertising campaigns on moving objects is the restrictive available space and power source. In this case power was drawn directly from the battery with minimum effect on engine performance.

BUS WRAPPING - Electrabel

This campaign for Electrabel demonstrates a different technique of applying EL, using vinyl wrapping. Panels were produced exactly to size, placed in position and the bus wrapped over the top with vinyl to create this amazing lighting effect.
