EDMONDS UK - NEWS & VACANCIES
Testimonials:
- "Our organisation was looking to present our services more professionally so we approached Edmonds to assist us with this. They communicated with us every step of the way and designed a banner which met all our requirements. We were given a very reasonable set price and were provided with a variety of designs to choose from before the final designed was produced. There were no hidden costs or nasty surprises.
Edmonds provided a fast, friendly and professional service and were very understanding of our needs as a voluntary sector organisation.
The final result is something that we are very proud to have as a marketing tool advertising our services. We will definately be using them again in the future."

Edmonds UK Ltd completes 50 years in business
Edmonds UK Ltd, one of Scotland’s longest established marketing and design companies, has merged with Edinburgh-based specialist print-buying company Perdiccas to provide clients with a broader, more cost-effective scope of integrated design and production services.
The move comes as Edmonds completes its 50th year in business, surviving the highs and lows over the decades, and successfully adapting to the rapidly changing and complex communications environment.

New Board: David Cowan, Scott McGilp and Jim McKie
Its management team is now boosted by the appointment of two new board members, Jim McKie as operations director and Scott McGilp as commercial director, between them bringing over 50 year’s experience in the print and graphic art industries with many blue-chip organisations.
The newly expanded Edmonds will be moving from its current two-site operation base in Leith in Edinburgh, though there are plans to bring all disciplines under one roof in the near future.
Commenting on the rationale behind the merger, Edmonds’ managing director David Cowan commented: “The scope of work Edmonds currently provides is primarily production orientated. Jim and Scott’s extensive experience will bring significant improvements to production efficiencies and supply chain management, as well as identifying capital investment opportunities for future data-driven print solutions.
“I remember the misty-eyed days of drawing boards, marker pens and Letraset®, and have lived through the digital revolution. So it’s very heartening, especially in these uncertain times, to start the next decade by looking ahead to the next developments in evolving communications, where e-commerce and multi-media are already allowing clients to compete in much wider market places.”
Edmonds (originally Edmonds Advertising Ltd) was established in Edinburgh, by Robert Tytler Edmonds in December 1958, shortly after Queen Elizabeth II made the first direct telephone call from Bristol to Edinburgh without the aid of an operator. It has remained in the City throughout its life, although was previously based in Royal Terrace then at Bonnington Road before moving to its current base at Mitchell Street in Leith, now a popular location for many graphic design
companies.
In 1989 Edmonds was one of the first graphic design companies to invest in a Mac and ‘desktop publishing’. Continuing the trend of being innovative, the company recently invested in a large format production facility in order to satisfy the demand for a wide range of high quality print products such as Point Of Sale and exhibition display panels, pop-up and banner stands, and a range of large scale internal and external commercial signage solutions.
Throughout its life Edmonds has chosen to go about its business keeping a fairly low profile in the UK advertising industry, while focusing all its energies into benefiting its clients both in the UK and overseas.
“We decided that 50 years was a good enough reason to shout about our longevity, as there are not many organisations left who are able to say that,” continues Cowan. “In a way, we like to think that we represent a positive legacy from 1958 – even though everything now is HD technicolour and not black and white!”

- The Carly Fairhurst Memorial Fund

- Edmonds were delighted in being able to assist the parents of Carly Fairhurst who was tragically murdered in 2006.
Carly would have been 21 in April and a charity fund has been set up – The Carly Fairhurst Memorial Fund – in her memory to assist Victims Support and Witness Service for parents affected by this type of tragety receiver professing help and counselling. Edmonds involvement – following a heart felt letter received – was to produce a life-size 21st Birthday card in memory of Carly.
Activites for raising money includes Parachuting Jumping, Running in the Great North Run, donations form wedding anniversaries and other donations. Other donators included a pair of boxing gloves from Amir Khan, football shirts from various premiership football clubs, a Sale rugby shirt and signed autobiography form Jason Robinson, similar Ruby League shirts form Wigan, St. Hellens and Warrington, and a England cricket shirt from Saj Mahmood.
A significant amount of money has already been raised for this worthwhile cause.
From Wigan Evening Post – 24 April 2007-07-26 Loving tribute on Carly's 21st:
"SPECIAL DAY: Trevor and Sheila with the giant Carly memorial birthday card Emotions will be high on Friday as a big birthday party is thrown in the host's tragic absence. A life-sized card bearing her picture and the fond memories of Carly Fairhurst's family and friends will be the nearest guests can be to the young Wigan woman who should have been celebrating her landmark 21st birthday this week. A victim of domestic violence, Carly died a year last February at the hands of her brutal boyfriend, Darren Pilkington. A killer twice over – having been jailed previously for a fatal street attack – Pilkington was given an indefinite life sentence for the Hindley 19-year-old's manslaughter. Her parents Trevor and Sheila have since thrown themselves into charity work aimed at retaining the counselling services at Victim Support which were so helpful to them after their bereavement but were last year threatened with closure. Thousands have already been raised with family, friends, Trevor's work colleagues at Rathbones Bakery, and even complete strangers doing their bit with everything from raffles to sky-dives, car park charges to concerts. All the money has been raised in Carly's name, but this Friday at Aspull Village Club is extra-special. The Fairhursts decided that instead of reflecting quietly at home on what might have been, there should be a big charity celebration of Carly's 21st. Trevor and Sheila say they have been overwhelmed by the generosity and co-operation of people. Boxing superstar Amir Khan has given a pair of his gloves – and had his picture taken with the couple to prove their authenticity – his cousin the cricketer Saj Mahmood is giving a signed England shirt, rugby legend Jason Robinson has done likewise with a Sale shirt and also put a signed copy of his new book up for grabs. Wigan, St Helens and Warrington RL clubs all table signed memorabilia, as do the Latics with a shirt. Trevor's Rathbone boss Harry Kear has given a £300 canteen of cutlery. Music is provided by cabaret legends The John Martin Sound and there will also be a raffle. Trevor said: "We are delighted at how kind and helpful people have been."The giant card itself must have been made at considerable expense to a Scottish company called Edmonds UK. We contacted several with the idea and their boss David Cowan offered to do it for free. "All these special items offered for auction are also extremely welcome. There are only about 40 of the 375 tickets left.""
